Hanon-Tramp

From Acadine Archive

Hanon-Tramp was the name given by the Germans to a certain kind of nightmare. This particular nightmare takes the form of a demon, which suffocates people during sleep. It is believed by the French peasantry that this is "the destruction that wasteth at noon-day," as it is supposed that people are most exposed to its attacks at that time. Its method of suffocation is to press on the breast and thus impede the action of the lungs.
